Project Description:
California Baptist University’s (CBU) new Athletic Performance Center (APC) will create the square footage needed to provide training programs for CBU’s student-athletes. The project site is bordered by the existing Recreation Center to the north, future Parking Structure to the south, surface parking to the east, and a new indoor basketball court to be constructed as a part of the Recreation Center Expansion to the west.
The new 12,500 GSF APC will be dedicated to CBU’s sports teams and is focused on training of athletes to enhance their competitive advantage. Program elements include:
• Open floor area, including apparatus supporting training and a six-lane running track with access to the adjacent new Recreation Center basketball court
• Nutrition Oasis and its associated Storage
• Trainers Offices
• Student Lockers
The Recreation Center expansion and renovation will accommodate the University’s increasing general student population and growing demand on the existing facility. Design efforts focused on integrating and maintaining the Mission Revival vernacular of the University, promoting the CBU community, and creating high quality recreation and athletic facilities supporting students, faculty, staff, and athletes.
