Project name:
Facilities Master Plan
Client:
Gavilan College
Project Description:
Vision 2030 focuses on the replacement of aging facilities within the parklike setting of the Main Campus in Gilroy; the continued growth on the Coyote Valley Campus; and the creation of a new campus in San Benito.
The Building/Facilities Program is based on a complete program of development, driven by the Educational Master Plan that addresses the total needs of the College through 2030, and meets and supports growth projections while simultaneously addressing aging buildings and infrastructure.
The Gilroy Campus is challenged with improving access and wayfinding while defining a sense of place. Vision 2030 focuses on connecting a campus bifurcated by multiple extreme elevation changes to create an energized, pedestrian-oriented core. Creating a framework of pedestrian circulation and open space, the master plan enhances wayfinding, the student experience, and the collegiate feel of the Campus.
The final plan results in a resource for decision making in support of the distribution of monies for current capital projects, as well as providing additional opportunities for leveraging state funding.
